The Heart of the Valley Chamber named Baker Tilly as the 2010 Cornerstone Award winner. The Cornerstone Award recognizes an individual or company whose contributions have had a major impact on the Heart of the Valley area and provides opportunity for others to work and live in our communities. Baker Tilly began in 1931 and has grown into a company well represented internationally with over 1,300 employees. In 2007 they consolidated their Green Bay, Oshkosh and Appleton offices into one central office in North Appleton. Baker Tilly offers a HERO program to their employees which gives paid time off for participating in community service and a GROW program that promotes the growth and retention of women. Employees regularly give more than 1,000 hours of volunteer time each year to organizations like Junior Achievement, Boys and Girls Clubs, Gardens of the Fox Cities, United Way and the Chamber.

The Chamber's Excellence in Achievement Award was presented to Vanderloop Shoes, Inc. This award recognizes a business member that has demonstrated excellence in business affairs, while adding to the quality of life of their community. Vanderloop Shoes, Inc began in 1945 in Little Chute and as they celebrate their 65th Anniversary they now have 4 retail stores, 1 warehouse and a fleet of 7 shoe mobiles. In the midst of a troubled retail climate, they remain solid and secure. Vanderloop Shoes supports the area with donations to Kermis Festival, CheeseFest, Little Chute Windmill, March of Dimes and the Salvation Army.

The Chamber Volunteer of the Year is Les Van Ornum of Merchants Choice Card Services. The Heart of the Valley Chamber's Ambassador Group serves as the "sales force" for the Chamber – recruits and retains members, welcomes members at Chamber events and encourages involvement. Les has exemplified the role of an Ambassador since 2004 and has made a commitment to engage new members in Chamber activities and encourage existing members to stay involved.

The Rising Star Award was given to Stellar Blue Web Design. The Rising Star Award acknowledges a business that has gotten off to a strong start and exhibits the potential for growing into a prosperous enterprise in the future. Stellar Blue was established in 2006 and has been growing ever since. Their team contributes countless hours in presentations and developing quality professional websites to area non-profits and business associations.

Autumn Hill of Autumn Hill Creative, LLC was named the Community Volunteer of the Year. This award was established to celebrate what's right with the area by highlighting the contributions of an individual who has made a significant difference in our community. Autumn volunteers endless hours to advance the entrepreneur spirit in Northeast Wisconsin. She donates her talents to the New North, Mid-Day Business & Professional Women, NEW END, Altrusa Club, Community Benefit Tree and so much more.

A special award was given to the past board President, Chris Hanson of Hanson Benefits, Inc. During Chris's Board Presidency, the Board of Directors participated in a series of Strategic Planning Sessions. These sessions focused on evaluating the Chamber's strengths and discussing the necessary changes to enable the Chamber to grow and respond to the needs of its members. This Strategic Plan now provides a roadmap for the continuing growth and development of the Chamber, while preserving the core values that make the Heart of the Valley Area unique. It provides a framework and philosophy for governing and managing the Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce and defines ways we can help our member businesses reach their goals. Chris is also the chairperson of our Advocacy Council which brings legislative topics to the attention of our businesses.
